Because to be at the top grossing charts, you need the best ads.
So without further ado…
This post will look at the most watched ad by Rovio’s Angry Birds 2 from 2022*.
*According to the data collected from Meta Audience Network, Unity & Google AdMob through AppMagic, and TikTok through Top Ads.
This ad got the most impressions in 2022 - “Impression” isn’t the best indicator for success, but hey, this is the data available.
It also got 74x more impressions than the 100th and 14.000x than the 1000th ad. So imagine the value of finding a hero creative. Only one more creative (which was in second place) could compete with its scale.
Not surprisingly, this ad was also the most viewed ad on TikTok.
And look: The first 2 seconds got the same number of clicks as the remaining 22 seconds of the ad (I calculated it for you). 👇🏼
What a 🪝!
Here comes the shocking news. This ad was created in July 2-0-2-1! It ran through 2022, slowly depreciating in the last quarter of the year.
I wish I could see many more iterations of this concept, which doesn’t seem to be the case. If you have such a strong hero hook and a strong idea, go and create 1000 more variations. Utilize your design resources, beg your CEO, and follow up with your artists. Make it happen. I bet you will create a version that works even better. Otherwise, you will either take the success for granted, and let it run until it slowly dries out, spend more time on new concepts, or -god forbid- complain about SKAdNetwork on Social Media.
